Orange has been a headline sponsor of the Glastonbury Festival for the last 10 years. And wanted us to come up with an interesting and engaging way of giving away tickets. Something that would help to cement their relationship with the Glastonbury Festival in peoples' minds.
In 2007 we ran
Spot the Bull. A contest where you had to guess where Derek the GPS enabled bull was standing at 3pm each day. It went well and people liked it. And it made sense too. Glastonbury is surrounded by fields with cows in.
So in 2008 we evolved Spot the Bull.
We retired Derek, and unleashed Winston - Son Of Derek. A younger, faster-paced, more spritely bull youth. We also added a shed-load of new features:
- Live multi-cam streaming video - if you want to see where Winston and his buddy are standing and what they're doing tune in at any time.
- Real time stats, weather and bull tracking - if you're an expert player these features really separate you from the heard.
- Team play - the more people in your group the more tickets you could win, and the greater your chance of winning too... Like Orange say, "together is better".
What did we acheive:
- Number of unique visitors up by 50% on last year. Average time spent on site more than doubled.
And Winston is back in his field bulling around. Until next time...
