It's Aliiiiiive!!!

Oasis is a fruit drink, advertised as being for people who don't like water. The beast, Rubberduckzilla, was born in this Japanophilic TV spot.

We were tasked with extending the legend online. So we brought it to life using the coolest technology we could find that week. AUGMENTED REALITY!!! Seriously, we did.We used AR.

Then we wrapped it all up in a Japanese video game aesthetic, some interesting media deals were done and hot dang: Rubberduckzilla was alive.

Is there anything that separates this from all the other novelty AR projects out there...

  • To make sure lots of people experienced Rubberduckzilla and didn't fail at the printer, we made sure that we distributed AR markers in big mainstream titles like The Sun and Nuts.
  • The AR mechanic made the gameplay physical - it wasn't just a 'look at the cool floating thing' thing.
  • There were pretty girls involved (appropriate for the young male audience).
Probably the most important thing about this project is that it got mentioned on Boing Boing - a first for a Poke project.
