Made by students...

HSBC approached Poke after they'd had a run-in with a group of students on Facebook. We needed to find a way that expressed HSBC's genuine willingness to listen to their student account holders and clearly demonstrated their commitment to Student Banking in the long term.

Discussions with HSBC and other third-party experts led us to the insight that students wanted to be talked to in a no-nonsense, grown up way, by people who really understood their concerns. So, we recommended creating a new site, providing a wealth of useful and insightful video-based content (developed in conjunction with students, student bodies and UniAid) that tackles the real money issues that students experience when they go to University. HSBC Talking Money was born - information from students, for students. It's been a great success both in terms of attracting students to HSBC, but also in terms of repairing relationships - both with students and the NUS. We'll be developing the site further in the Autumn of 2008.
