Our east London neighbourhood is truly on the world’s stage this month. And here at Poke, we’re thrilled to be part of the celebrations. We’ve partnered with Hackney House to present a mini-conference on August 8th: Creative Day, starring a gold medal-quality lineup of speakers.

The morning’s divided into two sessions: The Internet Industrialists will be a panel discussion with some of Hackney’s coolest start-ups who are developing physical products and services that are ‘fused’ with the internet, including Berg, Moo, MakieLab and Sugru. The chat will be chaired by Poke’s own Nik Roope.
Next up: The Internet Week Brilliant Lectures. Hosted by Simon Waterfall, a group of inspiring speakers take on three rounds of talks, themed: ‘I Made This,’ ‘This Inspired Me’ and ‘New to Me’. Each speaker offers a ten-minute talk about each topic – Tim Malbon, Mr Bingo, and Tomas Roope are on on the slate. The Brilliant Lectures were created to fuel the imagination of students from the Huddersfield School of Art, Design and Architecture – made with love by graduates Dom Goodrum, Joe Turner and Chris Boardman.
And in the afternoon, we’ll be partnering with The Prince’s Drawing School to present a session dedicated to the craft of drawing. Drawing’s fundamental to the creative, and something we can all take part of (yes, even those of us who are terrible at drawing). There’ll be guest lectures and tuition from established artists and School alumni – and everyone’s invited to swap their cursor for some charcoal. We’ll wrap up the afternoon with drinks and a review of the best work.
Sound like a winner? We’d love to see you there. Simply RSVP to pokepresents@pokelondon.com.
